About the brush:
After lipstick, brows are the most important feature to attend to on your face. Eyebrows enhance the heart shape to your face and make your eyes the first thing noticed when others look at you. There are many different styles for brows shown in magazines. I like a natural looking brow that is its fullest on the inner corner near the nose and imperceptibly tapers to a clean narrow finish with an arch that enhances the openness of the eyes(please see "Recipe for WOW Brows" in the archived recipe page)
How to use:
There are a few different types of brow brushes. The first we will talk about is the angled brow brush. This brush is designed to apply your brow color cleanly and sharply. (please see "Recipe for WOW Brows" in the archived recipe page) Most of the angled brow brushes are made from badger hair because it is stiff and retains its firmness for a long time. This is important in a brow brush.
After applying your brow color, sometimes you want to soften and blend the application. Both the brow comb(looks a little like a skinny toothbrush) and the the brow groomer(looks like a mascara wand on a stick) are designed to perform this task. Those with naturaly full brows will use the comg or groomer alone or with a little hair gel to organize and hold the brow hairs in place.
How to choose:
Feel the amount of stiffness in the palm of your hand. If you like what you feel, try it on your face. If the brush passes the feel test, then apply product with the brush for the ultimate application test. If it passes all of your criteria, mark it down as a possible future brush for you. Be discerning. Don,t buy the first brush you like. Narrow it down to your three top choices then pick from those. It is better to spend more time picking out brushes because it will be touching your face every time you put on makeup and it will be with you for at least ten years. One other test I do on the brush I am about to purchase is to gently pull on the hairs to see how that particular brush I am purchasing is constructed. If you get a handful of hair, ask to see another brush! Remember to always check what the return policy is on all purchases. Some brushes seem great and a month later they evolve into a shedding monster. Expect to lose a few hairs with any brush, however if the amount of hair loss increases instead of decreases, exchange or return it. |
