In Regards To Spring...

STYLE/BEAUTY
Springs in bloom
Petal colors give faces a subtle glow

"Soft. Shimmery. Shiny. Satiny. Sheer, sheer, sheer. These are beauty buzzwords this spring ...As for cheek color, think pink, says Chris Scott, founder of MakeupGourmet.com. 'It's a soft, flushed look for the cheek, an innocent blush.'"

Hello fellow Makeup Gourmets,

Contrast in tone sets up the most beautiful face for Spring. Most importantly, the luminosity and pure pinky/coral tone of the lips (without a hint of brown) must be the first thing noticed.

Secondly and equally, both the eyes cheek greet us, yet they do so in a distinct way from one another. The eyes are soft golden brown with swept up brows. The liner is subtle smoke, avoiding strong definition. Lashes are clean and long.

In contrast, the cheeks , with a sheer pink glow without a hint of brown, are innocent, never naive.

To achieve this look, follow the Recipe for Style below.

Spring 2004

Skin:
Hydrate skin generously. Brush on sheer, light-reflecting foundation through the center of face. Dust with satiny finish powder.

Eyes:
Brush up brows. Fill in only where necessary with pencil or powder. Gel brows with light reflecting gel.
Dust eyes in pale gold. Pat golden bronze color on lid. Mix both colors and apply as eyeliner under eye only. Make line look brushed on, not drawn on. Lengthen lashes with a clean finish mascara.

Lips:
Draw generous shape to lips with a pinky-rose liner (no brown). Make center of upper and lower lip more full and proportional to one another. Blend into lips a medium intensity pink or pinky-coral lipstick. Finish with a high-shine sheer pink gloss that brightens the lipstick.

Cheeks:
With the tip of your blush brush, pat-pat-pat a clear transluscent pink blush onto the apple of the cheeks. Do not brush the color on. Instead build up the intensity by patting to create a more flushed finish to your cheeks.

Finish:
If desired, a bronzing powder on the forehead, nose, chin and shelves of the cheekbones.

Voila, Spring busting out all over. Blow someone a kiss!
